Introducing the Bottega Veneta Sardine Bag

Introducing the Bottega Veneta Sardine Bag
By Designerbags 7 days ago 20 Views No comments

Parisian designer Matthieu Blazy took over the reins in 2021. One of his initiatives for the maison was to carry on the tradition of crafting leather goods by maximizing their intrecciato weaving method.

All eyes were on the accessories at Matthieu Blazy’s first autumn/winter 2022 show for Bottega Veneta. The Parisian designer introduced a fresh range of bags realized in the house’s signature intrecciato weave, including puffy clutches, gargantuan totes, and bucket bags that were carried with knotted ropes in place of a conventional handle. But Blazy’s hero bag shape was the Sardine, a supple pouch that gets its name from the metallic fish-shaped handle.

The slouchy silhouette riffs on the Bottega Veneta’s Jodie bag—which was released by Blazy’s predecessor, Daniel Lee – and is unique for its simple design. Crafted from rigid woven leather, it boasts a single pouch with no inner pockets and a magnetic closure, making it an understated option for any accessories fanatic.

The brand says the Sardine “doubles [up] as a jewel”— a fact that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley can vouch for. The supermodel was a staunch supporter of Lee’s cult accessories (namely, his Pouch bags), and she’s been just as enthusiastic about Blazy’s offering.

Bottega Veneta Sardine Bag Sizes

The Bottega Veneta Sardine bag is available in three sizes: Mini, Classic, and Medium.

The Classic Sardine Bag measures approximately 13 x 7.9 x 1.6 inches
The Medium Sardine Bag measures approximately 15.4 x 12.2 x 4.7 inches

Designer Matthieu Blazy made his debut at the maison with an it bag that caused a sensation: the Sardine. A perfect fusion of functionality and aesthetic design, the Sardine by Bottega Veneta– also available in a Mini model– has become the idol of celebrities and fashion enthusiasts worldwide. The resemblance to Daniel Lee’s Jodie is evident, but what makes it different is the distinctive gold-colored metal handle which resembles a fish, the sardine, from which it takes its name. The nuances and engravings on the handle, along with the uncompromising softness of its woven leather which shapes the iconic crescent structure of the bag, make this a unique jewel of a bag. Available in three sizes– mini, classic, and medium– the Sardine bag has a distinctive silhouette and embodies unmistakable craftsmanship, the epitome of aesthetic innovation while reflecting the spirit of the maison. Ideal for evenings out or special events, the Mini Sardine is a tribute to the art of miniaturization without sacrificing the original style. Stylish when paired with an elegant trouser suit or an evening dress the Mini Sardine is also the ideal companion for a cocktail dress or to add a touch of class to an any casual outfit whether it be straight pants and a silk blouse, or turtleneck sweaters, and slippers.

The Bottega Veneta Sardine bag is a remarkable creation that artfully combines the classic elegance of Daniel Lee’s Jodie bag with more contemporary elements, resulting in a truly captivating design. Would you buy the Sardine bag or the Jodie bag?
